That ashy sunflower wants your attention in a big way! For meadow maintenance this month, we mostly pulled up morning glory vines, cut back other aggressive stuff (looking at you #frogfruit), and positioned our Louisiana Native Plant certification sign.
The 5-7pm time was perfect, with the meadow mostly in shade, despite the ungodly heat index. Come next month for a happy hour?

Playing with meadow signage, thank you @civicstudio.coop ! and @bayouclayart for meadow maintenance help yesterday. Lots of seeds!
Are you looking for some?
And check out the Virginian tiger moth that I disturbed while pulling up morning glory vines. Its caterpillar form is the yellow wooly bear.
The meadow is a small oasis even though the street can be busy, an island of biodiversity amidst blocks of asphalt and grass. Gentilly has many people gardening with the aim of maintaining species diversity - maybe we need a tour!
